Little Aiden Grimshaw!
I got the shock of my life today when the boss strolled over, all casual like and said he’d made an Aiden Grimshaw t-shirt.
‘What????? I thought X Factor had been denounced as manipulative pap that only saddos watch?’ I squealed, aghast.
‘Well, I think he should’ve stayed’ mumbled slightly embarrassed boss, who then confessed to watching not one X Factor, but BOTH, over the weekend.
Now, it’s not often I’m speechless, as you might have gathered by now, but this revelation made my jaw drop to the floor (where it got all fluffy and covered in staples). So not only did Boss make a little Aiden emoticon, but also an Aiden t-shirt. This is so brilliant, and we in the office are all clamouring to get one, together with our own slogans, mostly along the lines of “Bring Aiden back, Katie is annoying!”
Fantastic, isn’t this the best t-shirt in…..like…..forever! Go Aiden, you slightly intense quiffer, you!

Opt out Claws!
X Factor fans were besides themselves today, as it emerged that Sunday’s result had been in effect manipulated to achieve the desired result, which was of course keeping Katie Waissel in the competition. Although it was quite evident that fellow contestant Tray-cee (that’s the only way I can manage to pronounce it!) would have garnered more votes, she was, quite frankly, far too nice to make a good X Factor villain, so out she had to go. In a way, you could argue that it’s all totally fair. Had Katie not been picked to be this year’s Cruella de Vil, she wouldn’t have been in the bottom two anyway, so the judges were just cancelling out the effects of the publics’ vitriol, right?
So, the question on everybody’s t-shirt is……..what t-shirt will be in play this weekend? The whole Vote Wagner thing is just playing into Simon Cowell’s coffers. So, how about this? No one votes, so none of the contestants get sent home, and Simon loses the odd million and learns a valuable lesson? Worth a try, I guess.
Check out my slightly cryptic t-shirt idea. I’m sure there are better phrases out there, have a go!

Bunny Girl!
Much has been made of the X Factor contestants choice of style, and many column inches dedicated to what they are all wearing. Within a short space of time, they have to make their mark, and show the public how suited they are to being mega popstars. Or alternatively, how they can cut it as the new Jedward if it all goes a bit pear shaped!
Cher Lloyd is one of the finalists who divides opinion on a weekly basis. One thing is for sure however, she knows a good t-shirt when she sees it! Check her out in this skull bunny number from NewBreed Girl. Then have a look at some of their other t-shirt prints and see what you make of them. I love the big bold graphics and humorous cartoon-like styles.

Help!
Take a look at this fantastic shark attack t-shirt, available from Reload Clothing. Definitely number one in my book!

The Sisters!
Although it’s quite usual for X Factor performers to murder any songs they sing, there is the odd success that causes the original song to be resurrected (via You Tube, of course). Last week, the wannabe singer known as Cher managed just such a feat when she (wisely) left the rapping alone for a while and sang the brilliant “Stay” by Shakespear’s Sister.
Although not a patch on the original (but whatever is?) it saved Cher from yet another week of crap headlines mostly about her eyebrows and jet propelled the 1992 version of the song back into the charts. Result!
Shakespear’s Sister originally comprised the fab duo Siobhan Fahey and Marcella Detroit. Siobhan was doing bonkers for a living before Amy Winehouse had even heard of the prefix “troubled”. So, to celebrate one of the best duos ever, here they are, in time honoured tradition, on a t-shirt!

Vote for ME!
It’s silly season at the X Factor, with Katie having another moment of extreme drama, Cher wearing another silly outfit, and Wagner shooting up through the ranks in a sort of protest manoeuvre to oust all the annoying ones.
In a bizarre show of ‘I’ll scratch my back; you scratch my (hairy) back’ Wagner was wearing a Vote Rebecca t-shirt and the Liverpool lass, who is is surprisingly not all that annoying yet (give her time though) has publicly come out saying she would vote for him if she were watching the show at home.
This looks like it’s going to all get very confusing. Are all the contestants going to come out in support for each other via the popular medium of t-shirts? That would really throw a spanner in the works, we won’t know what’s going on. Are they bluffing or double bluffing, or triple bluffing even? And would anyone wear a Vote Mary t-shirt?
With this year’s Rage Against the Machine let’s-throw-the-vote-tactics maybe Wagner really will win, and bring out a comedy Christmas single which will play at school discos and office parties everywhere. Surely that’s worse than letting One Direction win?
One thing is certain, however, Mr Cowell will win either way!

Rap Music!
I saw a great t-shirt out and about yesterday, which I had to share with everyone today. I’m sure it’s too soon to wheel out another X Factor number, but this one is just too good not to mention.
This year, the X Factor is almost nothing about music and all about controversy. Well, actually that’s probably every year, but this one seems particularly bad. Autotuning, in-fighting amongst the contestants, Gamugate, the punch-up, and some in-fighting amongst the judges. No surprise then, that the audience figures are at their highest ever, and Simon Cowell has just signed another deal with ITV worth £120 million, for three more years of X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.
I loved this t-shirt which alludes to Cher Lloyd. Cher started well, but things have gone a bit downhill for her in recent weeks. Maybe it’s the pressure; at 17 she’s pretty young to be on such an enormous show. Perhaps it’s the eyebrows and the mega makeup, making her seem harsh and hard beyond her years. It could be that she seems intent on being Cheryl Cole’s mini me (slightly freaky that one). Most likely, however, is that we’re all just at the mercy of the Cowell machine and are thinking exactly what he wants us to think. Scary.

Winning Team?
The word on the street is that Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell have fallen out big time over the X Factor disaster that has been dubbed “Gamugate”. Cheryl, who has previously been thought of as Simon’s Pet, has been copping all the flak for not putting Gamu through in favour of Cher Lloyd and Katie Waissel, with Simon wisely hiding away.
Cheryl maintains that she was told by the powers from above to kick Gamu Nhengu out of the show, as there were concerns about her visa. Although, judging by the media frenzy, you might think that that was a far worse fate than the other, possibly more serious problem facing family Nhengu; that of being kicked out of the country. I’m guessing that Chezza doesn’t want to be blamed for that either.
Having carefully remodelled her image after her early slightly chavvy days in Girls Aloud, Cheryl could do without Gamugate on her doorstep, reminding everyone about that toilet incident way back when.
So, what t-shirts will everyone be wearing tomorrow night for the first of the live finals? I’m guessing there will be a few insults flying around, together with a couple of crossed out Team Cheryls and so on. I’m rather liking the Simon Cowell as master pupeteer idea, which still needs a bit of work. But how about a quick “Team Gamu”, quite a safe bet for now!

I'm not your Friend!
X Factor just wouldn’t be the same if there weren’t outrages, sob stories and a bit of judge bashing along the way, and this series is doing it’s darnedest to to accommodate as many controversies as it can think of. Firstly, there was the autotune scandal, where it emerged that none of the contestants could sing, which was a massive surprise to us all. Then, Princess Cheryl was struck down with malaria, only to reemerge and find herself at the end of hate mail and death threats for failing to put one of the more tuneful contestants through to the live finals. She might have got away with choosing seemingly slightly unbalanced teenager Cher Lloyd based on her initial audition but provoked cries of “unfair” when she picked flakey Katie Waissel over Gamu Nhengu, who is now facing serious visa issues.
This calls for a t-shirt of some kind of another, possibly a little “Anyone but Katie” number. But what would X Factor be without a few boos and hisses for the pantomime villains!

No 1 Fans!
Cheryl Cole has firmly established herself as the Nation’s Sweetheart and is doing her best to provide for all of her fans’ needs. Not only has she returned from the brink of death to brave the next round of X Factor, but she has released a new single and lovely new book to boot. There I was, praying fervently that the poor lass might be taking it easy for a while, but the self crowned Queen of Dimples is back, and so is her big hair.
I think I find it quite sweet, and not at all stalkerish that lots of girlies spent the night in London, in their sleeping bags, waiting to catch a glimpse of their idol, who at the age of 27 has produced her first autobiography. But I’m not sure the book will be enough to deter them from future such episodes, which might be seen as bordering on the obsessive.
Anyway here are some of the hardcore fans, a bit bleary from camping out all night, wearing their ‘I heart Cheryl’ t-shirts and Chezza face masks. I can’t help but wonder whether the next generation of plastic surgery requests is going to include a dimple job. Still, we all heart Cheryl, don’t we, just like we all hearted Kylie and Charlotte Church (but only when she was little), and er…. Kylie and all of those other Nation’s Sweethearts. Oh yes we do.

Team Colours!
Having discarded my Ablisa t-shirt into the laundry basket of no return, I am wondering who will emerge as hot contenders this year.
Cheryl, fresh from her bout of Derek Hough malaria is going to be mentoring the girls, whilst Dannii gets to fend off Sharon Osbourne whilst managing the boys. Louis and Simon will be able to holding ploughing matches in the furrows of their foreheads as they get to deal with the over 28′s and the groups respectively.
So, just to get us started, lets have a nice little Team Cher(yl) number. Teenager Cher is one of the hot favourites this year so far, but might just be a bit too squiffy to go all the way. Still, the names fit together to make a nice combination so here’s my diamante X Factor t-shirt. Don’t you love the star quality!
