Hooray Hooray, it's National X Factor Day!
If you hadn’t had enough of the X Factor by now (and honestly if that’s the case, you really should think about getting out a bit more) then X Factor day might be just what you need. A celebration of the long running singing competition and reality show, National X Factor Day intends to raise money for charity (but not the Simon Cowell fund, you’ll be relieved to hear). Through the sale of special X Factor Day t-shirts with the slogan “The Monster Hit Just Got Bigger” which promises to donate £3.00 of the profits to good causes, or by getting people to hold their very own X Factor auditions and coughing up some dosh, X Factor Day looks set to be extremely popular. Hilariously, it’s on October 31st, the same day as Halloween, so instead of trick or treating, you might find people singing at you and then demanding cash. Actually it’s quite appropriate it’s on Halloween, as that’s kind of what happens anyway!
So, if you’ve not had it up to the eyeballs with dodgy auditions, terrible singing, and all round X Factor mania, maybe this special day is just for you!

Two Faced?
Dimples Cole has been skirting around the paparazzical periphery lately as she decides how to make her fully blown come back post US X Factor dumping. A bit of a new hairdo here, a silly frock there. But nothing concrete to let us know which direction she might be going in next. Today’s little teaser was “hungover Cheryl” after a storming night out with the never knowingly under-punctuated Will.i.am. “Me and alcohol are not friends” she tweeted. Presumably you could substitute the word “alcohol” for “Cowell” and you would have a whole other story.
Anyway, hangie aside, Chezza still looks fantastic. But what I’m really liking is her t-shirt. I love this emerging trend of faces on t-shirts. Great juxtapositioning, and a lovely matching shade of red lippy. It’s 100% yes from me.

Swaggerin'
Here at T-Shirt Studio we are very lucky to have the best boss in the world, and I’m honestly not just saying that because it’s sunny and it would be nice to go home early. No, we are very fortunate indeed, and I could ask for anything more. Although…..if there was one little thing that could sometimes brush by the hairs of one’s nostrils as it mildly got up one’s nose, it might be the boss’s recent penchant for singing ex X Factor contestant Cher Lloyd’s debut single “Swagger Jagger” around the office and creating what is technically known as an earworm. It takes hours to be rid of the young girl’s dulcet tones and rap style rapping (I think I missed a “c” there somewhere). I’m not sure if he is a fan, or whether it is just one of those things to keep us on our toes, but I do wish he’d revert back to the old stuff.
In the hope of jolting his conscience, here is a picture of the feisty youngster, sporting a good old 80′s style big print cut off t-shirt. Much as I have great admiration for anyone who would brave the humiliation of X Factor, I have even greater admiration for people who know when to keep their mouths shut.

Pop Queen!
With the news this week that action man-alike Simon Cowell has dumped yet another X Factor winner from his record label, you might be forgiven for thinking that maybe winning the competition is more of a curse than a blessing.
It’s glaringly obvious however, that this year’s X Factor will be another massive hit, and a new set of wannabes will be unleashed on us, and hang around well after their fifteen minutes is up.
Not taking the hint yet is Katie Waissel, she of the porno gran, desperately wanting to be in the papers for as long as possible. I oughtn’t be giving her blogroom, however I find the Madonna print on her t-shirt an amusing juxtaposition; the queen of pop and the queen of flop. Still, it’s probably not Katie’s fault she’s so annoying, and there’s no harm in aiming high is there? But having aimed and missed, I do wish she would just go away now!!

Ex Factor
The word vacation comes from the old French meaning “freedom or release” from activity or an occupation from the French vacation (and the Latin vacationem). Interesting then that when I saw a photo of X Factor loser Katie Waissel wearing a t-shirt with the slogan “I need a Vacation!”, the very first thing I thought was “Oh no! Not more X Factor…..Release me from X Factor World Domination free me from reading about it. Arrrgh” So, actually it’s me that needs the vacation, not her. I think that’s what Alanis Morrissette was talking (or singing rather) when she pointed out how ironic things are. If it were not ironic, I guess the t-shirt would say “Make me go away; my 15 minutes are up” But irony is probably not one of Simon Cowell’s prerequisites for contestants. Not that you would think singing is either most of the time!

Swaggin'
Contestant Cher Lloyd was on of the most colourful contestants on the X Factor this year. Although it could be said she peaked a little early (her first audition was amazing) she generated column inches wherever she went. The rap stuff wasn’t entirely to everybody’s taste. But the judges seemed to like it, and her, seeing a new star in the making. And what the judges want, they will surely get.
Cher not only won over the judges. Black Eyed Pea and mate of Cheryl, Will.I.Am raved about her as well. I’ve just read that she’s gone and landed a record deal with Jay-Z, that’s Mr Beyonce to you and me. Wow. Quite impressive for a 17 year old.
Here she is performing to throngs in a t-shirt which reads “Got my swagger in check” bit of a nod to her audition and the accusations in the press that she was a just a teensy weensy little bit arrogant. She’s also sporting a personalised necklace that says “Get Ur Cher On”. She could be a poster girl for TShirt Studio, although all that rapping would drive me slowly insane. Still, well done to her. I bet Matt Cardle’s spitting that he didn’t do some rapping. It’s obviously the way to go.

Call me Matt
Was it really all that surprising that after all the controversy Matt Cardle, the epitome of Mr Nice Guy, would win the X Factor this year? More people have watched this series than ever before, it has been the most talked about, complained about and voted for than any X Factor that has gone before.
And what of the Matt in the hat (hat was sadly jettisoned after a few beautiful weeks)? Will he go onto to warble from great heights, a la Leona Lewis? Lesser heights, just like Alexandra? Or will he be consigned to the graveyard of all other talent show winners (none of whom I can possibly remember) and Steve Brookstein?
Lets hope Matt has a bit better luck than the others, so a little tribute t-shirt to Matt Cardle today. With a little message he might need to convey to Mr Cowell, if you catch my drift!

In it for the Bunny
Ever since her first audition, where she was great, and not irritating at all (much), teen X Factor contestant Cher Lloyd has been firmly tucked under the wing of her mentor and idol, Cheryl Cole. And whilst she’s not exactly a resounding favourite with the voters, the judges are keeping her in the competition at all costs. Simon Cowell is a big fan, as he states ad nauseum every week , and you can just tell he intends to force the all singing, all rapping, all gurning star on us as soon as the series is over. Which could well be fair enough. He’s a multi squillionaire responsible for such chart topping successes as………well, absolutely no one I can think of, apart from some pretty awful ex X Factor winners. Maybe Cher is just what we need to bring Britain out of recession and back into the black. (although didn’t Amy do that already?)
Anyway, Cher’s not all that bad. I guess. But who will you not be voting for on Saturday. I certainly can’t bring myself to contribute to the Cowell’s chest waxing fund, so I adamantly don’t pick up the phone to vote every week. I’m quite tempted by the single of silence, the “Cage Against the Machine” John Cage’s 4’33″ silent charity single, performed by Pete Doherty and Billy Bragg amongst others (it could well be their best work to date!)
It’s time to start thinking about Saturday’s t-shirt (or hoodie if it stays cold) so take a look at this little suggestion. Snazzy, huh!

The real Katie!
I know, I know, I’m seriously in danger of getting obsessed by the X Factor and am turning into a real Wagner bore. It has become a whole social event, Saturday night TV with Strictly, X Factor and now I’m a (minor) Celebrity accompanied by friends, a glass of wine, and the Guardian’s live blog. It seems to have become a bit of a postmodern phenomenon, where streets are deserted as hoardes of folk are glued to the box, wondering what medley of songs Wagner will murder, what shade of orange Cheryl will achieve on the tango chart, and whether Katie will announce “this is the real me (ta-tah)!” yet again.
Hence this week, a little Katie tribute number. The main question is, will the real Katie be saved by the judges once again? And how many real Katies are there, in fact? Is she the first human clone? There certainly were a few dodgy hair dos that brought to mind Dolly the sheep, so maybe I’m onto something with that one.

The Winners!
What is known as the Widdecombe effect is sweeping across reality TV with a vengeance hitherto unbeknown to Saturday night TV. Not only is Ann the bouncing buxom belle of the Ball in Saturday night’s Strictly Come Dancing, but Wagner is clinging onto his place in the X Factor as though Chezza’s tan depended on it. And Gillian McKeith, well if she has to do another bushtucker trial, she’ll probably snap. In half.
So the great British voting public, whilst still hooked by all these shows, is voting with it’s proverbial feet. If the absolute disasters garner votes that other more deserving contestants were due, the schadenfreude is a much bigger part of the entertainment than merely the talent contest side of things, and the programme makers have their noses rubbed in it just a little bit. There can’t be one person in the country who wouldn’t like to see Cowell’s face if he actually had to give Wagner a recording contract. It’s Eddie the Eagle Edwards all over again. But this time, he’s gonna WIN!
So today, a triple whammy on a t-shirt. Keep voting for Ann, Wagner and what’s left of Gillian. Saturday night will be much more fun!
