pizap.com14531366645581Don’t you just wish that January would take a hike? I’m all for the new year, but right now I’m sick of getting up in the dark, and coming home in the dark; I feel like a mole, never seeing the light.

The first thing I do when I get home at the moment is to light the stove and make a cup of tea. This is an old T Shirt Studio number that’s been through the mill so many times, but testament to the durability of our wares. The colour hasn’t faded although it’s sat outside in the garden for weeks on end, been through my rickety old dishwasher and generally not been very well cared for. Still, it welcomes me home and keeps me warm. You’ve got to love it for that.

neil gaimanBetween the chaos of Christmas and the excitement of new year (not to mention the joy of endless leftovers), there’s often a bit of time to ponder the old year and look ahead to the new.

I so often find that this time of reflection, accompanied so often by indigestion, involves an attempt to slough off the strains of the past 12 months, and set unreachable goals for 2016.

This quote by the wonderful Neil Gaiman I like, however. Light and attainable, something to hold on to for the upcoming 12 months…have a good one!

T Shirt Studio has teamed up with the Royal Air Force to create some truly stunning designs. The shape, colour and arrangement of everything is a perfect fir for what we wanted to achieve. Any kind of collaboration is incredibly rewarding; translating someone’s designs, making them a beautiful reality is beyond satisfying, and when it’s for the Royal Air Force, well, an extra bit more special. Ah, so today’s brainwave is the Secret Santa mug with subliminal message and bottle of miniature spirits secreted within. Although, let’s be honest, it’s not all that secret any more if I’m writing about it on this blog, but that’s not the point, we’re all about sharing right now!

If you put your mind to it for more than 5 seconds, you can come up with a much better slogan than mine, but when it’s that time of year, you don’t want to spend ages being thoughtful with everybody; some presents just have to be crowd pleasers. And this is perfect, a drinking vessel and booze……what’s not to like?secret san

capital lettersSometimes you read something so funny it just has to go on a mug for someone. This, I think is quite a perfect Secret Santa for any teachers you know. Potentially they may not totally agree, however, I think there is definitely a market for this kind of humour.

Our mugs are perfect for any smutty sayings, inspirational quotes (if you are a little more highbrow than me which doesn’t take much) or photos of your nearest, dearest and cutest. Design away.

At the back of our cupboard sits a variety of T Shirt Studio oldies. Some of the first printed mugs we ever produced, well over ten years ago now, are still going strong, barely faded and still loved. This one took a bit of a tumble, and is now in the geriatric pile, but won’t ever get thrown away.

Our mugs are brilliant blank canvasses for your children’s heartbreakingly rubbish first drawings. There’s a lovely naivety about them that you just have to capture whilst it lasts, because it’ll be gone in an instant. That’s why capturing their efforts on something you use every day is so precious. Even when the handle breaks and it’s done a tonne in the dishwasher, it’s still there reminding you of some sweet moments. And for only a fiver, you can enjoy our mugs for a bargain. Priceless!

By far the funniest thing I’ve seen all week was this baby on board sticker and it’s literal counterpart of baby doll on a plank. Whilst safety features are obviously important, the stickers on the back of cars warning you that someone’s little princess in inside can sometimes feel slightly irksome, especially when those with said stickers cut you up, lane hog or park you in.

It’s made me chuckle quietly for enough days now to realise it has to go on one of our coffee mugs. Providing the odd snigger alongside your teabreak beverage of choice is always fun and a great idea if you’re stuck for a small yet effective birthday gift.

I was struck by an article in today’s Daily Mail featuring the ever entertaining Sarah Ferguson hefting a tote bag to a glamorous party in Cannes with the faces of her daughters when they were babies.

All grown up, hat and holiday mad now, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice are still the apple of their mother’s eye, and it’s sort of sweet to see that battered personalised item still in use and treasured. No matter how dated and decrepit, something like this will always bring back fond memories, and will never be thrown away.

I love this drawing that a friend’s daughter did of her father. Preserved for posterity on nothing less than a mug, a jigsaw and an apron. It’ll be lovely to see them used and loved and treasured for as long as they last.

It’s International Women’s Day, which is a platform to celebrate and encourage women the world over to inspire themselves. And to be pissed off at tampon tax and unequal pay and not to be able to take safety for granted. You’d think that in the 21st Century, women wouldn’t need their own International Day, but they do, and you only need to flick your eyes across the top news stories to see that our increasingly developed world is becoming more like the Dark Ages every day.

So, to celebrate and encourage women, here’s a choice quote on a mug. This line by Janis Joplin isn’t just about feminism, it’s about everyone equally, which is kinda the point I guess.
