French t-shirt design company Zoe Tees was founded in 2004 in Paris by creative director Laure Pariente as a sartorial reaction to the t-shirts she saw around her. She wanted to create flattering basics, with elegant lines and a quality feel to the garments.

The range is now sold globally, and is fast becomming a cult label with online shops including Net-a-Porter, mywardrobe.com and ASOS.

I rather like this ‘Love’ t-shirt. With a huge print, and an unfinished neckline, a lovely drapey feel, and a really comfortable look, it’s sure to be a sell out.

ZoeTees has a feel to it that is a bit like Wildfox Couture but more understated. Hugely popular nonetheless and well worth keeping an eye out for them in the sales. Oh yes, I forgot to mention, there is a little bit of a downside. They don’t come cheap, with the little number opposite retailing for £92. Far too much, in my opinion, for a t-shirt, but the prices do go right down in the sales, so you can snap them up a lot cheaper if you shop around. ASOS have some brilliant bargains, but it’s so easy to get distracted by all the other stuff on there, you start to lose track of time. Anyway, there you have it. ZoeTees….great in sales!

I almost can’t say how much I love this printed jumper from Sonia by Sonia Rykiel. Apart from it’s post Christmas pattern-y jumper vibe, it reminds me of a thing from primary school, way way back before Maggie pinched our milk. The question, (and now I’m thinking back on it, it wasn’t very funny) was this; “What is two and two?” Of course you were supposed to answer 4, but you were told “No, stupid, it’s a love heart on a line”. There was the same thing with 6 and 6, which was apparently a pair of spectacles. See?

Anyway, I’m almost totally sure that that was her inspiration for this amazing jumper, available from the trusty Net a Porter. Uncanny, huh?

Leather trousers were the supermodel off duty staple this year. Combined  t-shirt in varying shades of white, the likes of genetic miracle Miranda Kerr (sparkling and stunning), and cheekbone-tastic Kate Moss (grubby yet sexy) exhibited the versatility of the sweaty sartorial uberpants.

If you have never eaten three bags of crisps for breakfast, and have legs at least up to your armpits, and have an income with plenty of zeros behind and not in front, then leather trousers will look amazing; just pop on a tee and off you go. Otherwise, if you dare to be a mere mortal and don the leather, then you will get what you deserve, and look like a hairy biker. And probably get some chafing as well.

If you are the former, with supermodel limbs and corresponding budget, then Net-a-Porter’s fabulous sale has the most divine skinny leather pants, well worth a look. If you’re not rich, tall and thin, then go back to your crisp packet and be comforted that even supermodels are bound to bung them in a hot wash and utterly ruin them.

This most beautiful handbag sweater by the amazing Markus Lupfer, available from Net-a- Porter has to be the ultimate in Christmas gifts for girls. Beautifully soft merino jumper with a gorgeous Chanel style sequinned bag embroidered across it, as if it were a real bag. This is the most exquisite piece of clothing I’ve seen in ages; I’m firmly convinced Lupfer is a design and printing genius. Expect to see many a copycat version of this one off piece of beauty and marvelousness. sigh!

What to wear to the office Christmas party is always a bit of a dilemma. And with wallets feeling the festive squeeze, splashing out on a new outfit could be a bit of a stretch. The thing to do is to wheel out the little black dress (the sparklier the better) and invest in a pair of printed tights.

Tights have undergone a bit of a rebirth in the last few seasons. There are some absolutely amazing prints around and you don’t have to look very far. Gone are the days of think or sheer; now there’s tiger stripes, spots, and swirls in every imaginable hue.

For great luxury, and the feeling that you’ve glammed it up a bit (after all, it is Christmas) Net-a-Porter does a fabulous range of hosiery which will lift any outfit and make you feel at least half a million dollars. Or perennial underwear fave Marks and Spencer is another option. I love these tights by Walford, a nice little bit of tiger chic to take you into the party season!

Valentee-no!

I remember having a creative streak once and putting garlic powder and avacado into my scrambled eggs. It was wrong in every way, and a lesson in dodgy combinations. why didn’t I just stick with bacon? I’ll never know, and the image of gooey green scrambled eggs with a powerful garlicky hue will haunt me for a long while yet. Which is now why I stick to things that work. Mostly.

That’s why you can’t go wrong with lace on t-shirts. Honestly, follow that argument, it’ll make sense eventually. Lace over t-shirts is easy to do, looks tricky and is what people call “bang on trend” (I wish they wouldn’t; it’s a really irritating phrase). Take a look at this lovely tee by Red Valentino from Net-a-Porter. A subtly accentuated beautiful white tee, just like eggs. With bacon.

Embellished to a tee!

Moschino’s Cheap and chic diffusion line is rather more chic than cheap. Although if you look at the prices of it’s main line, there’s something relative going on there.

I love this kind of embellished t-shirt where the print is accentuated by other frills and spills. This tee, available from Net-a-Porter takes a lovely chi-chi girly drawing and adds an enormous bow for effect. If you had a spare hundred and thirty quid, then it would be a lovely item to splash out on. Or you could do it yourself. All it takes is a t-shirt, a drawing, a bit of ribbon and the ability to sew something on without stabbing yourself. Well worth having a go!

How fantastic is this t-shirt by Aubin and Wills? On the surface, it may merely be a long sleeved red and black striped t-shirt, however in reality it’s a thinly disguised homage to the ever wonderful Dennis the Menace. It’s just one of those things that ticks all the sartorial boxes, and then some. Nautical look. Check. Stripes. Check. Longer length. Check. Dennis the Menace look. Oh yeah, totally! This has got to be the t-shirt that takes yo from summer (member that?) right through to winter and beyond. I love it! And at only (?) 65 quid from Mr Porter, you can too…..you little menace!!!!

On Call!

The gloriously eccentric Franco Moschino was one of the first designers to offer a diffusion line in the form of Moschino cheap and Chic. The cheap bit is a bit of misnomer, but it definitely gets the chic bit down to a tee. Since the designer’s death in 1994, the label has flourished under the direction of his former assistant Rossella Jardini, still producing the colourful, ecclectic designers that made the label so popular in the first place.

This amazing printed 60′s style shift dress from Net-a-Porter is certainly not for the faint hearted. The whole front panel is filled with a traditional London telephone box, with a plain black  panel at the back. This takes t-shirt printing one notch further; whereas with bold t-shirts, you tend to frame them with plainer items, this dress is all there is. It needs very bold accessories, only grey and black will do, but if you want to do cool Brittania with style, then this is how to do it!

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s Net-a-Porter sale news, is the equally exciting Mr Porter spectacular. If you’ve never checked out their website (and shame on you for that) this is the time to have a trawl. The wonderful thing about websites that showcase a variety of top designers, like Net-a-Porter, Matches and Browns is when they have sales, they’re big.

I have to say though, the Net-a-Porter format seems to be the easiest to negotiate, they also seem to sell out of everything first, so get in there quick.

This polo shirt is by women everywhere’s favourite, Roland Mouret. If you’ve been in a cave for a very long while and you haven’t come across him, then he is the man who revolutionised women’s fashion a few years ago with the incredible “Galaxy” dress, a stunning piece of cutting and fit. Tailored everything has made a huge comeback on the back of Mr Mouret, so if you buy something by him, you will be an instant fashion icon, and all your female friends will think you’re really savvy and cool. This shirt is down by 50% to £140, but can you pass on the chance to show off your credentials to such an extent as this? Do you dare not to?
