Halloween Action!

I was going to hunt for a hairy scary Halloween t-shirt today, but then I saw the X Factor last night (I was bored and there was nothing else on, honest) and there was enough scary material to go round the earth about three times, so today it’s a terrifying X Factor number to go out trick or treating in.

What with Wagner’s bilingual rendition of  Bat out of Hell, Katie’s Worzel Gummidge impression and Cher looking like Kate Bush’s number one fan, there surely were a lot of terrifying moments to choose from last night. And I’ve not even started on Aiden’s tortured performance of Thriller.

Luckily, Cheryl kept her orangeness toned down enough to stop her getting confused with a pumpkin, otherwise she’d have been perfect Halloween material. So it’s back to Ablisa, aka the punch up duo from the early stages. Probably the most frightening thing to appear on your screens EVER!

Take another peek at these two girls going thump in the night. Arrrrgh!

Rap Music!

I saw a great t-shirt out and about yesterday, which I had to share with everyone today. I’m sure it’s too soon to wheel out another X Factor number, but this one is just too good not to mention.

This year, the X Factor is almost nothing about music and all about controversy. Well, actually that’s probably every year, but this one seems particularly bad. Autotuning, in-fighting amongst the contestants, Gamugate, the punch-up, and some in-fighting amongst the judges. No surprise then, that the audience figures are at their highest ever, and Simon Cowell has just signed another deal with ITV worth £120 million, for three more years of X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

I loved this t-shirt which alludes to Cher Lloyd. Cher started well, but things have gone a bit downhill for her in recent weeks. Maybe it’s the pressure; at 17 she’s pretty young to be on such an enormous show. Perhaps it’s the eyebrows and the mega makeup, making her seem harsh and hard beyond her years. It could be that she seems intent on being Cheryl Cole’s mini me (slightly freaky that one). Most likely, however, is that we’re all just at the mercy of the Cowell machine and are thinking exactly what he wants us to think. Scary.

I hate to admit it, but it’s become sort of a guilty pleasure watching the best clips from the X Factor on Sunday morning and not sitting through the whole thing on a Saturday. Not only was Natalie Imbruglia’s face suspiciously solid, (always fun having a bit of Botox spotting) but there was the most horrific piece of car crash television I think I have ever seen.
Shockingly bad telly and quite unforgivable for me to have been so hooked by it, but the truly awful audition by Abbey and Lisa (aka Ablisa) which ending up with one of them punching the other was proof if ever you needed it that Vicky Pollard is alive and thumping. Small wonder looking at this, that British women have been voted the most minging in the world (as voted by the rest of the world!)

The tragic thing is, that they were  exploited for the purposes of cheap entertainment, and they should never have been allowed on the television in the first place, it was quite obvious they couldn’t sing right from the word go. They were only picked to make riveting telly by embarrassing themselves. So while part of me is appalled, another possibly much smaller part feels a bit sorry for them. Thus I thought they should have their own supportive t-shirt, courtesy of T-Shirt Studio. But only if they promise never to be on TV again. Ever!
