What to wear to the office Christmas party is always a bit of a dilemma. And with wallets feeling the festive squeeze, splashing out on a new outfit could be a bit of a stretch. The thing to do is to wheel out the little black dress (the sparklier the better) and invest in a pair of printed tights.

Tights have undergone a bit of a rebirth in the last few seasons. There are some absolutely amazing prints around and you don’t have to look very far. Gone are the days of think or sheer; now there’s tiger stripes, spots, and swirls in every imaginable hue.

For great luxury, and the feeling that you’ve glammed it up a bit (after all, it is Christmas) Net-a-Porter does a fabulous range of hosiery which will lift any outfit and make you feel at least half a million dollars. Or perennial underwear fave Marks and Spencer is another option. I love these tights by Walford, a nice little bit of tiger chic to take you into the party season!

You can bet that where quirky British designer Giles Deacon leads, the most sartorially dynamic will follow. A major innovator, famous for his slogan t-shirts, Deacon wore an ensemble of half dinner suit half cammo trousers at the British Fashion awards last night.

Steal a style march and do a Giles Deacon. get your freak on with a personalised cammo t-shirt, and be a top fashionista!

I love this minging mug, available from, it’s a perfect secret Santa present, really filthy looking, just what you want your tea or coffee in. A nice little office present and at £12.99 not too much of a spend.

Or this is another little joke number, available from Amazon for £3.50, definitely not for everyone, but still quite amusing when the unsuspecting soul drinks from the mug and everyone else sees the message.

Feline Fuzzy!

I’m a big fan of all things leopard and tiger and general animal print, although I have to say it did take me rather a while to get in on the act. This lovely tiger print devoree t-shirt from the wonderful Topshop is just a perfect example of the big cat genre. All fuzzy and faded it looks fantastic with jeans or snazzed up for evening. Topshop always have a fantastic selection of tees, well worth checking out if you need a cheap tee to jazz up an outfit. This little number is £38, and machine washable.

Silvery T-shirt!

Silver has long been used for it’s anti-bacterial properties. Long before the advent of the dishwasher and Powerful Kitchen Spray Which Makes Nose Itch, people would eat with silver knives and forks (well they did if they could afford it) and whether they liked it or not, they were being anti-bacterialised with each mouthful.

So it’s not a massive surprise that silver is making a comeback, this time in the form of fabric which is impregnated with tiny silver particles. The bacteria that would otherwise breed and make a honk are annihilated and the t-shirt stays clean and odourless. This is a wonderful idea, and a great way to combat the effects of lengthy t-shirt wearing sessions. From about £20 from Silvermax, so a great price for what could be a revolutionary tee!

Handcrafted to a Tee!

Sunspel is a distinguished British clothing manufacturer which has been making quality menswear since 1860. Although not a high street name, they were responsible for Nick Camen’s boxer shorts in the famous Levis laundrette ad and clothing Daniel Craig in Casino Royale.

From the first of December Sunspel are introducing a bespoke t-shirt service. Designed to your own specifications the t-shirt is chosen from a range elements which are then put together for you. Select from slim or relaxed fit, pocket or no pocket, and a variety of colours.

The process continues “After the order is received, it is sent to the Sunspel factory in Long Eaton. Here experienced cutters select the hand-cut card pattern in the requested size along with the requested fabric colours. The t-shirt is cut out by hand and labelled with the customer’s name to begin its journey through the factory. It is handed to experienced machinists, overlockers and binders to be made up with great care.”

Finally the monogram is added to either the pocket or the hem, the label is attached and the shirt is pressed before being sent to the store for the customer to collect. A totally luxurious service, and one that is bound to be a big hit, although the tees, as you can imagine, don’t come cheap, starting at £100.

This looks to be the gentleman’s shirt, the ultimate in customising your own t-shirt from scratch.

I love the viral video of a man chasing his dog through Richmond Park, swearing madly as the dog causes a  stampede of deer. Having clocked up half a million Youtube views, and counting, it’s the funniest thing I’ve seen for a while. It has prompted a flurry of t-shirts bearing (in) appropriate slogans, so I thought I might share this one with you. The dog is apparently called Fenton, although initially it was thought he was “Benson”

Benton, Fenton.....Come here!
